Bungoma, a town in western Kenya and Uganda, is named for its location near the border with Uganda. The town was originally a meeting place for Bukusu elders. The sound of drums would emanate from the area as the meeting venue, leading to its eventual naming as Bungoma. Sugarcane farming is one major economic activity in the area because more than 67,000 farmers directly depend on Nzoia Sugar Company Ltd.; early businesses were supported by the Kenya-Uganda Railway which passes through the town. Most of the land in Bungoma County is still held as ancestral. The land transfer usually follows feudal patterns, but with the right contacts and expertise, bargains for land for real estate investment in Bungoma aren’t a mirage.
As it stands, the most prevalent reasons for disposal of land in Bungoma are hospital bills, school fees, and division of the estate of the deceased to beneficiaries. It would therefore help if you find an estate agent with deep local roots who can navigate issues of land succession that come up closer to town, especially along major roads such as Toto Roads. Closer to town especially along major roads such as Toto Roads most of the land in Bungoma County is packaged as commercial.
Speaking in Bungoma County, Raila Odinga promised to revive all the stalled companies in Western Kenya. The companies include Pan Paper Industry and Mumias Sugar factory among others. He added that he will ensure that each county has a factory to create jobs for locals. Construction Sector in Bungoma

The road cuts through the agriculturally rich Webuye East, Kiminini, and Lugari constituencies. Roads and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary James Macharia, the same who announced the start of work on the 45km road last year, regretted that the project had failed to take off because the contractor abandoned it. The projects are key for real estate growth in Bungoma County.
